More Focused on Revenue Than Supporting Pros
I've been using Thumbtack for about a year, and while the experience has been inconsistent, I was able to generate enough leads to make a profit. Unfortunately, the platform's recent changes have completely changed my opinion. The biggest issue is being charged for leads related to services I have never offered or advertised. On top of that, when Thumbtack approves a refund, the money isn't actually returned to your bank account—it is issued as platform credit instead. In other words, they still keep your money and simply require you to spend it within their system, often on leads that may not even be relevant to your business. Customer support has been equally frustrating. After spending nearly two hours on hold and getting nowhere with an AI support system that provided little to no real assistance, I finally decided enough was enough. At this point, it feels like Thumbtack is more focused on maximizing its own revenue than helping professionals succeed. While there aren't many great alternatives in the lead-generation space, Thumbtack has become the worst option I've personally used. I can no longer recommend it and would suggest looking elsewhere if you're serious about finding a reliable and professional lead service.
