There’s a first time for everything…
In the roughly 20 years that I’ve been using pair.com and pairdomains.com for all of my web development I have had stellar support service. This last time, however it was the first time I ever received the “That’s your problem.“ answer. In order to allow my client to use their QuickBooks 2015 for the Macintosh on their MacBook Pro 2015 to do invoicing they needed a non-Gmail address. I had been trying to advise them to stop using Gmail for at least a decade so I said let’s set up your domain and build a payment portal on your website and, with a domain email address of your own, you can send your invoices. The invoice’s sent just fine out of QuickBooks for the Macintosh 2015. The problem was that my client was not able to use IMAP with an older web browser or Mac mail. I set up Pair WebMail using Google Chrome and she was able to pick up her email that way. Unfortunately, this was happening over the weekend and there was no service support over the weekend. That was different also. When I finally did receive an answer. I was told it was basically my problem so they couldn’t help me. I think it depended more on who was helping me because I found other Pair support agents who were way more creative and had inventive ways to fix things. It was just the luck of the draw, I’m sure. I still intend on using pair and Pair Domains. The bigger problem for me is Pair charging for every single email account now which, for my tiny web development business, almost tripled my yearly cost.
