Any Excuse Not To Pay
We got pet insurance for our dog Basil last year. This year has been a hard series of medical issues for him. Despite paying over R400 p/m there is always a reason to not accept the claim, and that's resulted in us paying over R40k out of pocket - which getting insurance was meant to prevent. In one incident, our dog accidentally ate glass getting into something he shouldn't have - they wouldn't cover it because it didn't actually hurt him and 'no medical intervention was required', despite him being hospitalised and undergoing treatments to monitor him all night. Amongst other incidents they wouldn't cover. Since we're paying out of pocket for everything anyway, I don't see the value in also paying an additional few hundred a month for nothing. Absolute waste of our money - do yourself a favour and go with Dotsure instead, I wish I had and now Basil is too old to put on another good policy.
