For the most part, Magic Kitchen has been a great solution…
Magic Kitchen has been a great solution for our household because they offer a wide variety of flavorful meals that work for both my diabetic diet and my husband’s ESRD diet. It’s rare to find a service that can accommodate both sets of restrictions without sacrificing taste, and we really appreciate that. The shipping and packaging have been excellent—after three deliveries, we haven’t had a single damaged meal. The shelf life is also impressive, which makes planning ahead much easier. Our main challenge has been with the cooking instructions. No matter how closely we follow the directions—venting when instructed, adjusting for our microwave’s wattage, and sticking to the recommended cook times—there’s almost always one component of the meal that ends up dry or hard. Pasta often comes out dry and firm, any breading becomes tough, and vegetables lose moisture. It’s consistent enough that we’ve noticed it across multiple meals. We previously left Mom’s Meals due to packaging and shipping issues, and while Magic Kitchen has been much better in that regard, the higher pricing is something we continue to struggle with. Overall, Magic Kitchen offers great variety, reliable delivery, and strong dietary accommodation, but we hope to see improvements in cooking consistency and pricing in the future.
