Warning: Terrible Quality Control & Complete Failure to Follow Custom Measurements

Do not be fooled by the UK domain name; this company operates out of China and provides abysmal customer service. I explicitly chose to pay extra for a custom-made dress because I was concerned about their strict return policy if a standard size didn't fit. I provided precise measurements so I could be confident the dress would fit perfectly and avoid any return issues. I ordered a knee-length dress for my daughter, provided the requested measurements and also as an extra, explicitly provided a Hollow-to-Knee measurement of 56 cm (22 inches), alongside her total height (39.6 inches) and Hollow-to-Floor length (30.7 inches). They acknowledged these measurements in writing before production. When the dress arrived, it measured only 17 inches from hollow to hem—at least 5 inches too short. On a 39.6-inch child, an 17-inch garment sits far above the knee and implies physically impossible body proportions. When I brought this clear manufacturing error to their attention, they continually shifted their excuses. Initially, they claimed they had followed my instructions and only allowed a standard cutting leeway. It was only after I provided photographic evidence of the dress against a measuring tape, along with proof of the original measurements I submitted and pediatric proportion diagrams, that they changed their story entirely. They then absurdly claimed that "hollow to knee" is not the hem measurement for a knee-length dress—blaming me for their own pattern-cutting error. To make matters worse: They hid behind their "no returns on custom items" policy, completely ignoring that this was a manufacturing failure, not a customer ordering mistake. They offered an insultingly low £12 token for local alterations on a dress that is physically impossible to lengthen (there is no fabric in the hem to let down). Now that I have rejected their inadequate offer and requested a full refund or replacement, they have resorted to completely ignoring my emails. Despite taking every precaution on my end, Duntery failed to follow agreed specifications, made up excuses, and cut off communication. Avoid Duntery at all costs! **** Update to Merchant Response**** Duntery's response is completely disingenuous and ignores the hard evidence on record: 1. Ignored Pre-Production Proof: I have written confirmation and screenshots showing I supplied a 56 cm (22 in) Hollow-to-Knee measurement before manufacturing, which Duntery acknowledged. Despite this, they cut the dress to only 17–18 inches—over 5 inches too short—and now claim they "followed order dimensions." 2. Contradictory Excuses: Duntery explicitly admitted in writing that "this particular skirt is knee-length." Yet on a 39.6-inch tall child, an 18-inch dress sits high on the upper thigh, not at the knee. They offer custom sizing but cut from short, generic factory templates. 3. Unreasonable "Solutions": Offering £15 for local alterations is useless because there is zero hem allowance to let down. Following this review, they emailed asking me to spend more money by offering a discount code to buy a second dress to replace the defective one they ruined. Do not be fooled by their standard reply. I have exact tape-measure photos, receipt proof of submitted specifications, and written admissions from their team showing they ignored my custom measurements. Avoid this seller if you expect accurate sizing, honest communication, or accountability for factory mistakes.
