NIU KQi 300X — bought for commuting to class When the scooter arrived, it looked fine at first. But the instructions tell you to immediately screw on the handlebars without mentioning that there’s a cord inside the stem that needs to be connected. If you don’t know to check for that, you end up like me — spending two days trying to figure out why a fully charged scooter won’t turn on, with none of the troubleshooting steps helping. Once I finally got it working, the very first ride gave me a throttle malfunction. The scooter randomly cuts off while riding, forcing you to walk back the distance you just traveled. I missed my entire morning class because the scooter shut off and I had to turn around and walk it back. Calling customer support makes it worse. When you select 1 for English, the phone number hangs up on you. No help, no guidance, nothing. This is one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a product. The scooter looks nice and the build quality seems good, but clearly something was broken before they even shipped it out. NIU needs to test their scooters properly before sending them to customers, because this is unacceptable.
