Traffic estimates so BAD its misleading
★☆☆☆☆ Traffic estimates so inaccurate they undermine the product Ahrefs presents traffic figures with a level of precision that, in my experience, they do not deserve. I have compared its estimates with first-party analytics for a site I can verify, and the gap is enormous. A publisher looking at the Ahrefs figure alone would come away with a seriously misleading picture of that site’s audience. A site gets 870k , they show <400. YOU ARE A JOKE IN THE INDUSTRY AHREFS AND FULL OF EXCUSES. I understand that third-party traffic figures are estimates. The problem is how easily those estimates can be treated as facts when assessing a publisher, pricing a partnership or judging performance. If the underlying data cannot reliably capture a site’s traffic, a precise-looking number offers false confidence. Ahrefs should make the limitations of its traffic estimates much more prominent and give users a clearer indication of when an estimate may be especially unreliable. Based on the discrepancy I have seen firsthand, I cannot recommend relying on its traffic figures for business decisions.
