I must not have read the fine print when booking this tour ? Is it me or did I miss something ? Inclusion was a 24/7 tour Manager and “ in person guides” To our surprise we booked a tour to Spain , Portugal and Morocco on the assumption it was fully guided . Airport to hotel transfer was not great for a start as we were expecting a person with a name card to collect us . Nope, a uber notification came for us to locate our taxi. The game begins . On our arrival to the hotel in Madrid we learn that there is no tour group . Turns out it was just my husband and I . My initial thoughts were we had been scammed. This anxiety and reflection could have been due to the vague and lack of communication during the booking service. Anyways on with the show. WhatsApp turned out to be our new friend .. because we were looking for friends to tour with! The realisation started quickly that there was no tour group as such and we had a Virtual assistant! Lucky he was a great guy. So our journey became an amazing race and adventure. In some respects we were happy to meet new friends everyday and we were not go on a bus with 50 people. I do enjoy small group touring where I can put my feet up but this turned into a self navigating tour. Luckily I am tech savvy because this trip could have gone belly up. In saying this uber collection was always prompt and tours great. Hotels alway situated outside big cities so were learnt very quickly how to use the metros. Communications are prompt but at times AI stepped in with wrong information. We were told a glitch in the system and to just call . Short story but overall turned out to be an enjoyable holiday with slight adjustments along the way as requested. Ie questionable 6hr taxi transfer in a beat up car in 38deg heat with no AC .. not pretty. Train transfer was requested from Fez to Marrakech was excellent and cost factor minimal. Hotel rooms that could fit 2 large suitcases would have been helpful, not always but at times. Whilst the company is working on minimising expenses, sometimes this needs to be adjusted accordingly for safety and wellbeing. This trip has given me the confidence to DIY in the future. Overall once we realised the situation we were in , communication along the way was great , it turned out to be a fun, middle aged backpacking experience.
