TripFlex: unclear exclusions and no proactive help—even after escalation My experience with TripFlex and Trip.com’s complaint handling has been deeply disappointing. TripFlex is marketed in Chinese as “安心退改,” suggesting peace of mind around cancellations and changes. In my experience, the purchase interface did not clearly explain which charges would remain non-refundable. During subsequent conversations, I was told that the TripFlex fee itself and checked baggage charges would not be refunded. Even after asking for clarification, I did not receive a clear, itemized explanation. What frustrated me most was the lack of initiative. The case was reportedly escalated to a supervisor, but the handling remained passive: repeated apologies and references to airline refund restrictions, without practical alternatives or meaningful remedies. We expect to take a similar trip next year, so we thought of keeping the tickets and changing the dates. Why did we have to come up with that ourselves? I was not expecting a guaranteed change regardless of fare rules; I expected the team to investigate whether it was possible, explain the costs, and check whether our baggage allowance could be retained. I also asked whether Trip.com could offer points or credit as a remedy. The response simply repeated that baggage charges were non-refundable, without addressing whether the platform could help. I understand that airlines have restrictions. But those restrictions do not address Trip.com’s own disclosures or its handling of the complaint. Even after escalation, I felt nobody was taking responsibility for finding a solution. At the time of writing, I have not received a concrete resolution. Trip.com needs to explain exclusions clearly before purchase, actively explore alternatives, and ensure that supervisor escalation leads to meaningful action. Repeated apologies are not a substitute for assistance.
