Agoda

Refund turned into expiring AgodaCash without my consent — now worthless

In March 2026, a network delay on Agoda's platform caused me to make a duplicate booking. I called customer service to cancel one of them (Booking ID 1704067660). The refund of USD 112.3 was issued as AgodaCash. I was not clearly told it would be AgodaCash instead of a refund to my card, nor that it would expire in just 6 months — I believed the money had gone back to my credit card. In April 2026, I used that AgodaCash to prepay part of a free-cancellation booking at Edgewater Hotel, New Zealand (Booking ID 1722866251). In October 2026, my plans changed and I cancelled within the free-cancellation period. The AgodaCash was returned to my account already past its original expiry date and completely unusable. When I called and asked for it to be restored, customer service flatly refused, saying expired AgodaCash cannot be recovered. The duplicate booking was caused by Agoda's own platform glitch, and the refund method was changed without my clear consent or any warning about the expiry. I am asking Agoda to reissue the USD 112.3 AgodaCash with a reasonable new validity period, or refund the March booking to my original payment method, so I can rebook.
