Nickel & Dime - Lie - Scam
I had used BookRenter for quite some time without any issues until last semester. I rented a book that came with some marks/highlights and some water stains on the pages. It wasn't a significant issue to me and I was still able to use the book and read the pages, so I didn't think anything of it. I incorrectly assumed this would be a non-issue and that they'd already have documented the damage from the previous user. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I used the book, returned it in time, then was immediately charged more than $200 for damaging the book. When I contacted Customer Service to let them know that I definitely did not damage the book, they informed me that I was the very first to rent it. They told me the book was brand new when it was sent to me. I was livid and asked to speak with the manager. They said there was nothing they could do because I didn't report it within 21 days. I was never transferred to a manager, but instead they said they'd call me back later. They never did call me back (shocking!). They did, however, refund my money. I do not plan to do business with them again. I'd encourage you to read the Customer Reviews on the BBB.org website before you rent.
