It is a GREAT tool and idea, but it has a major sit back that renders it almost useless. It is crawling and updating the data in a speed that make me believe they use servers that were already outdated in 1998.
If you do website and keyword analyzing the last update for keywords is up to 40 days old.
For backlinks they constant give wrong data. They will claim 10% of the links as lost, and then if you go check on the websites the links are still there.
I would give it 2½ stars, but if they fixed the update speed of links and keywords, as well as reduce the false LOST link status, I would give them 4-5 stars.
I use other similar tools that somehow can update everything almost on a day to day basis.
I've used several SEO tools, and AHrefs is one of two that I can't live without. Even though the price can seem spendy, it's well worth the cost. You get a lot of bang for your buck, so if you can only afford one tool, get this one.
They illegally spider your website, despite being warned not to.
AHrefs.com is a website that collects backlinks data all over the Internet. SEO optimization companies pay for that data to allow enhancement of their clients' websites.
The problem is if your web server is slow, like most smaller websites, your website goes down every time your server gets spidered by their Ahrefsrobot tool. I followed their instructions from their website weeks ago to remove them from spidering our website, but the practice continues. They spider our website, so quickly, that it knocks our website down for an hour at a time. We were knocked out of service twice yesterday and once this morning. Our server has been running slow all day, due to their access of our site, what seems to be on purpose. We have been unable to stop them and were forced to contact Level 3, and other top level ISPs to help us.
Because of their actions and failure to obey our terms of service and their own posted rules, I urge everyone to NOT use their services and boycott that company.
I am speaking with legal staff today to commence litigation against them and any ISP that allows them access to our servers.
I urge all website owners to do the same.
