My elderly mother fell and required major surgery involving extensive cervical implants which completely upended her life. She went from independent living to assisted living - which was only possible after 2 weeks of intensive rehab. With just a few days to find a place, we chose a new facility that was beautiful but found the medical care severely lacking.
She was frustrated and frightened, so we reached out to Jerred Copeland of Wake County Care Patrol and he even met with us the day I contacted him regarding a new opening we could consider immediately. He introduced the concept of a senior group home with low caregiver ratios that fit our needs with a medical advisor who was an experienced nurse with a graduate degree in education that obviously cared and even trained caregivers herself. She moved to NC years prior to care for both her parents and Jerred's own grandmother was a previous resident at the home we toured.
My mother still struggles with her lack of control and independence but I know she is safe and medically sound at her new home. The staff is patient and caring and I feel confident about her ongoing care.
