Hi again Judy, we're updating our response here to respond to your update. One of the reasons OhmConnect exists is to prevent the need for peaker plants, which are power plants that are turned on when the demand for energy is greater than what the grid can provide on its own. Peaker plants are less efficient, harmful to the environment, and cost more to operate. When the grid is stressed, OhmConnect steps in and asks members to reduce their energy usage, thereby reducing the demand for energy on the grid and circumventing the need to turn on a peaker plant. This is why any energy saved during an OhmHour, big or small, is important. With that said, it wouldn't be practical to call on every member enrolled in OhmConnect to participate in an OhmHour. I understand that may seem a bit confusing considering what I mentioned previously. However, the method in which OhmHours are created and participants for an OhmHour are determined is very complex and precise. There are various rules and regulations that need to be followed which is why it's not practical for us to send an OhmHour to everyone at the same time. You can learn more about how OhmConnect works and how we operate within the energy market by checking out the articles in our Help Center. Smart devices such as smart plugs and smart thermostats help you save more energy per event and help you earn more Watts. Additionally, the more energy you save per event, the greater your status level will be. With a higher status level, you'll be able to redeem more rewards while using fewer Watts.
