Skoolbo is a full curriculum learning program for four to ten-year-olds. Children are immersed in an incredible learning world and are highly motivated by the inbuilt rewards. Subjects include Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Languages, Science, Brain Games and more.
I have twin 13yo ASD level 2 children. Both have severe language disorder so have always been below the "state average". I find Skoolbo terrific for them as it builds confidence whilst is still challenging. I've ticked all the categories so they have learning components of English, Math, Science, Art, Music, language, geography, and brain games to choose from. My son, who is very competitive has learnt that to collect your snazzimal you need to complete the daily challenges. He missed a day and now he's behind his sister!! So today while i was out, he hopped on skoolbo on his own accord and did the lessons. He has NEVER done this before. We also like going into Class TJ to play those games too. The menu is easy enough the kids can navigate without me supervising them, which is a blessing for me. I make sure to tell other home school families about this app all the time, and the 40% off at the start of the year was the only reason i could afford it, so thank you so much for having that special discount.
Be very careful to cancel after the months free trial, one of those sneaky businesses that entice you with a month's free trial on the hope that you will forget to cancel your subscription. No warning email to let you know that they will start charging you or that your end of your free trial is coming...Plus very boring learning from an educators and pupil's point of view

We have put tens of thousands of hours into creating Skoolbo and we are exceptionally proud of the more than 50,000 children who have increased their literacy or numeracy skills by more than three grade levels. We are educators and take our responsibility very seriously. We are happy to offer a free month to trial the program and we make payment arrangements very clear when creating an account, as well as on the main page of the Parent Dashboard. Cancellation is a simple two click process.
I have 4 children aged 11-4. I home educate and the older 3 kids use skoolbo daily. The earned snazzimals are a great motivation, my older two love playing chess together.
My 11 yr old isn’t learning new maths or English but loves the non fiction books for supplementing his knowledge of the world.
It’s noisy, can be silly and I would find it irritating but it works for the kids and gives them joy in completing tasks and daily challenges. I’m so happy with Skoolbo!

That's lovely to hear - thanks for letting us know!
This is a great learning tool
However I have been having difficulties with it when running on a network instead of WiFi
There no obvious means of contacting someone to help.

Having tried and been disappointed with several other educational apps I am really happy with Skoolbo. It is easy to navigate and the daily challenge covers all core subjects in as little as 20 minutes. It keeps the kids interested and I can see that they are learning while having fun. I'm really impressed with Skoolbo. I hope they develop it for older kids too as I think it only goes up to age 10. But for my age kids (between 5 and 9) it's perfect! We're homeschooling and it's been a great addition to our learning program. Thanks!!!
Skoolbo has everything covered for a child’s effective learning. It is the best learning App for children I have come across so far, plus their fee is very reasonable. Thank you very much for this amazing learning app.

That's very nice of you to say so! Many thanks,

Skoolbo is wonderful, they cater for all academic subjects. My only criticism is that it's too fast moving. When a child is given a question e.g. '36 ÷ 6', if the child does not answer instantly then the question is repeated again and again which is confusing for the child. I have seen my daughter struggle as she is trying to calculate sums mentally and becomes frustrated when the monkey keeps repeating the question. For this reason I believe she does not perform to her Best ability.

Thanks for your feedback and very happy to hear that you think Skoolbo is wonderful! We will review the speed at which question audio is repeated to child as we certainly don't want that to be confusing or stressful. Good luck to your daughter!

I home school my son with Skoolbo, but I would love to know how many lessons he should have every day, Time 4 Learning gives that option, and I would like to get that with Skoolbo

Our recommendation is that students complete the Daily Challenge (approx 20 mins) on most days. We see the greatest levels of improvement when this occurs. In a home school environment it may be beneficial to continue on for longer periods. This is particularly the case with areas such as My Reading, My Writing, Languages and Class TJ which are not part of the Daily Challenge. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly for further guidance and be sure to look at the Parent Guide - skoolbo.com/parentguide
Many thanks,

A comprehensive tool. Learning and practice. A great support for home schooling as I believe it is for schools too. Great response and superb customer care.

My little boy is of above average ability and I am an ex-teacher with experience with primary aged children. I have recently subscribed to Skoolbo for my 4 year old (on a home ed rate). I'm finding lots of the programme too complicated or fast for him. The literacy daily challenges are fine for his level but the maths challenges were much too difficult. I have reset them to an easier level using the parent dashboard and I'm hoping this will be better. I don't really like competing against others in the games either as I think this, coupled with the timing aspect, stresses him out and he makes mistakes. For his age group I think it would be fine just to strive for a personal best without the competitive dimension. He is very motivated to collect Snazzimals however, which is a great aspect of the game, but the swiping on the fruitybo game (which you play after winning a Snazzimal) needs to be very precise and is too fast for him. The book reading parts of the programme are, in my opinion totally unsuitable for his age group. There are so many words on each page and, even though they can be read to you, it is very off putting so see so much text. The themes are also too complex.
The idea that the game 'learns' from your responses is great, the idea of winning Snazzimals is also very motivating but I think the content supplied children under 6 needs to be reviewed.

Many thanks for your detailed review. For children 5 and below we definitely recommend parental assistance. To respond to specific points that you've raised:
* Literacy and numeracy activities are based on how children have performed in the pre-tests and then the learning algorithm continues to adjust after each further game. We find across the system than over 95% of times the algorithm sets a task that meets the needs of the children. As you have mentioned within the Parent Dashboard you are able to also adjust the level and hopefully this will work well for you. BTW you can also switch off all numeracy and just go with literacy if you feel that would be better.
* Competing with others - this is something that is done within the app version of Skoolbo. We find that most children really love this part and as a consequences it motivates them in their learning, however it is certainly more appropriate for older children. The web version of Skoolbo does not contain that element (except within Class TJ) and here children are simply striving for personal bests. We use a timed element on most learning games as we find that it dramatically increases focus for the children which results in vastly increased learning as opposed to untimed situations. Our motivation system is based around two elements - completion of Daily Challenge (approx 20 mins) and personal bests. Wonderful to hear your son loves the Snazzimals!
* We will look to bring in some simpler (but still lots of fun!) reward games to accompany FruityBo!
* Book reading - Skoolbo contains over 1000 books including fiction, non-fiction and a levelled reading program. The expectation for four year olds is that they would simply listen to the narrated books as opposed to reading them. If you wish, you can switch "Story Time" and "Science and Geography" off in the Learning Settings within the Parent Dashboard and this will stop the books being part of the Daily Challenges.
Please feel encouraged to contact us at [email protected] if we can be of any assistance and we're very happy to provide 14-Day refund if Skoolbo doesn't meet your needs. Thanks again for the feedback,
Team Skoolbo
We are new to using the program. I have three kids currently using it. They all love it and ask to go on it. They range in age from 5-14 but the 14 year old is a little delayed, so I wouldn't say it was good for that old of a child normally. I can't say my opinion on educational value yet as we have not used it enough. The good thing is that the kids want to use it and especially for the 5 year old it is very easy for her to use and navigate herself.
