Why Am I Paying for Premium?
I’ve been a Spotify Premium subscriber for quite a while, and overall I’ve never had issues with my payments, billing, or music streaming experience. Compared to some of the reviews I’ve seen from other users, my account itself has functioned well. However, my biggest frustration is with podcasts and the way ads are still delivered throughout episodes, even while paying for Premium. I understand the difference between Spotify platform ads and ads embedded directly by podcast creators, but from a customer perspective, “Premium” and “ad-free” create the expectation of uninterrupted listening. Instead, podcast episodes are still constantly interrupted by host-read sponsorships and promotional segments. Music playback is mostly excellent, but the podcast experience feels misleading when paying customers still have to manually skip through ads and sponsored interruptions. If Spotify markets Premium as an ad-free experience, there should be clearer communication about what that actually means for podcast listeners. I’m not asking for perfection. I just want the uninterrupted listening experience I believed I was paying for.
