Deceptive “Total $69” confirmation – charged $80.97 + zero support when it mattered

Reservation D35TXSXZ – La Quinta Inn Austin Oltorf (August 2026). Dayuse confirmation clearly stated: - Total $69 - To be paid at the hotel $69 - Right below it, taxes and fees of $11.97 were listed under the heading “for information purposes only.” At check-in I was charged $80.97 – a 17% jump on a two-hour daytime stay. The hotel manager confirmed the full amount (room + booking fee + all taxes) was due. When I tried to contact Dayuse support during the active dispute at the property, every listed line and office was closed. I filed a formal complaint with the confirmation screenshot. Customer service (Abigail) repeatedly rewrote what their own document said, claimed $80.97 had always been the total, refused every request for escalation, and finally closed the case while telling me there was nothing to escalate. This is textbook bait-and-switch pricing: call a lower number the “Total” and the amount “to be paid at the hotel,” bury the mandatory extra charges under “information purposes only,” then deny any problem when the higher amount is collected. Do not book with Dayuse. The confirmation is deliberately misleading and their support disappears the moment you need it.

Flightright

Highly recommended

My case started in June 2025 after Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa completely destroyed my trip. After the cancellation and missed connection, I had to rescue myself by buying my own replacement flight, paying for a hotel, transportation and meals. Although the airline eventually reimbursed most of my out-of-pocket expenses, they kept denying that I was entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004, repeatedly hiding behind the usual "extraordinary circumstances" arguments, and never disclosing any evidence, hiding behind the classic BS that Lufthansa does. For months I dealt directly with Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti, exchanged over 30 Emails, opened formal complaints, prepared evidence, and spent an incredible amount of time trying to resolve the matter myself. Every time, the answer was essentially another refusal. Only after I transferred the claim to Flightright did things finally start moving. They kept me informed throughout the process, escalated the case to their lawyers when negotiations failed, and continued pushing until the airline finally paid. Could I have recovered a larger amount by litigating entirely on my own? Maybe. But after months of fighting, having professionals take over and actually win was absolutely worth it. If you're exhausted from arguing with an airline that simply keeps saying "no," Flightright is a very solid choice. They were persistent, transparent throughout the process, and, most importantly, they got results.

Yelp: the conflict‑of‑interest factory

If you’re thinking of trusting Yelp, don’t. This platform is turned into a pay‑to‑sanitize machine where businesses can BUY THEIR WAY OUT of accountability, and Yelp will bend over backwards to make sure negative reviews disappear. My review was removed with some generic “conflict of interest” excuse — the same copy‑paste bullshit they use whenever a business waves a check in their face. Meanwhile, the actual conflict of interest is Yelp taking money from the same companies they’re supposed to keep honest. Yelp isn’t protecting consumers BUT protecting its paying clients. They’ll find any excuse from “relationship with the business”, to “unclear experience”, to “violates guidelines”, all sort of possible BS which "fits the script". However when you look all over online, you’ll see the same pattern: zero‑star reviews vanish, legitimate complaints get buried, and businesses with crap reputations magically sit at 4.5 stars. And good luck talking to a human. There is no support, no accountability, no transparency. Just automated messages, dead ends, and a wall of silence while they quietly clean up the reputation of whoever pays them. Yelp has become exactly what it claims to fight: a platform where money decides the truth. If you’re anyone with a real experience to share, prepare to be ignored, filtered, or deleted. Yelp is not a review platform anymore but a a conflict‑of‑interest factory.
