I have decided to take my case to the people so that they can decide for themselves whether Living Spaces is a company they can trust and confidently do business with. What transpired in my situation should never have occurred, particularly after their company was given multiple opportunities to resolve the matter appropriately. Unfortunately, at every stage, Living Spaces chose not to stand behind the quality of the product it sold or the commitments made to its customers. Consumers have every right to expect that furniture purchased and delivered will arrive free from defects. In this case, the defects in the sectional sofa should have prompted immediate corrective action, including replacement of the entire 3-piece sectional. Instead, I was informed that my only options were to either “return or replace,” without any clear explanation that you were referring to only one piece of the sectional. At no point would it have been reasonable to assume that I would return or exchange a single section of a 159-inch sectional sofa, thereby reducing it to approximately 109 inches and leaving the designated living space incomplete and unusable as intended. Furthermore, their company could not guarantee that any replacement piece would come from the same dye lot, despite the obvious risk of color variation and mismatch in fabric. This would only compound the existing issue and further diminish the appearance and value of the furniture I purchased. The reality is that Living Spaces could not guarantee delivery of the product as originally purchased and represented. Under those circumstances, a full refund should have been handled promptly and professionally. Instead, the process became unnecessarily difficult and adversarial. This experience demonstrates a concerning lack of accountability and raises serious questions regarding whether Living Spaces truly stands behind the products and warranties it sells. I believe prospective customers deserve to know the potential risks they face if defective merchandise is delivered and whether they can reasonably expect fair and responsible treatment from their company when problems arise. People need to be warned that when buying from Living Spaces they should not sign for the product until they have carefully inspected their furniture and it is free from all defects.
