BEWARE OF SUBSCRIPTION TRAP with their Low Cost Courses!
I have been charged a monthly subscription fee, 3 months after I cancelled it in May 2026. I bought an online course advertised for $1USD on 21 May 2026. It wasn't until I had paid for the course that I realised that there was a 7 day free trial, then a monthly subscription of $39USD would be charged. I immediately attempted to cancel the trial on the same day, following the instructions for cancellation in the 'Membership' section of my account . However to complete the cancellation you require an emailed link from NewMindStart, which they did NOT send. I think this is a deliberate action on the company's part. As I didn't receive the cancellation link, I emailed the company on 25 May 2026 requesting cancellation of the subscription before the trial free period ended. I received a reply same day, offering me a lower monthly subscription fee to continue. I declined the offer and again requested that the subscription be cancelled. I then received a reply the same Customer Support person, advising me that 'Your trial has been canceled as requested, and no charges are planned.' So imagine my surprise when I noted on my credit card statement this month, a charge from NewMindStart on 25 August 2026, equivalent to $39USD. I then reviewed my earlier credit card statements and found that 2 other subscription fees had been charged on 25 July 2026 and 25 June 2026. I emailed Customer Support on 27 Aug 2026 advising them of the error and requesting a refund of the 3 monthly charges. To date I have not received a reply. After emailing NewMindStart I notified my Bank of the erroneous charges. I also submitted a notification to the Cybercrime Reporting Unit in Australia and was advised that this tactic is commonly known as a Subscription Trap. I believe that this company proceeded to fraudulently charge me a monthly subscription fee after deliberately not cancelling the trial as requested. After I logged in to my account with NewMindStart I could see that the subscription had indeed not been cancelled. I was able to cancel the subscription from my account on 29 August 2026. This company is unscrupulous in regards to trapping you in to a monthly subscription with a very low cost course, and making it very difficult to cancel the subscription. I would be very wary of giving your credit card details to this company. If you are not monitoring your credit card account closely, you could be stung for hundreds of dollars by the time you realise it. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR $1 COURSES UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TRAPPED INTO A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION THAT YOU DIDN'T WANT... AND IS DIFFICULT TO CANCEL.
