DoorDash

★ 1 Star

★ 1 Star — DoorDash Completely Ignored a Serious App Problem and Penalized Me for It I’ve completed nearly 5,000 deliveries as a Dasher and have maintained a 95%+ acceptance rate and Platinum Dasher status. I know how the DoorDash app is supposed to work, which makes what happened—and DoorDash’s complete lack of response—even more frustrating. On July 28th, I started dashing and was hit with 15 timed-out orders. The problem? The assignments NEVER showed up on my phone. They didn't appear on my screen for me to accept or decline. I never saw the restaurants, the payout, the distance, or any other information about these orders. They simply weren't there. I couldn't accept them. I couldn't decline them. I never even had the opportunity to make a decision because DoorDash never delivered the assignments to my phone. And to be clear, this isn't a case of me using some outdated phone that can't handle the DoorDash app. I have a current, top-of-the-line smartphone with 5G capabilities, with more than enough capability to run the DoorDash app. I've completed nearly 5,000 deliveries using the platform. I immediately contacted DoorDash multiple times and explained exactly what was happening. I was told they would investigate the issue. I actually stopped dashing for 10 days to give DoorDash time to figure out what was wrong before I tried again. During those 10 days, all I received were generic, form-letter responses essentially saying, “Here's your reference number, and we're looking into it.” Apparently, they weren't looking into anything. On August 7th, I tried dashing again, and the exact same thing happened. This time I caught the problem after another 5 assignments timed out, bringing my total to 20 timed-out orders. Twenty orders. NONE of these were declined orders. I did not decline them. The assignments never showed up on my phone. Some of these were high-paying orders. Some were very short, easy deliveries that I would have gladly accepted. I never even got the chance to see them. Yet DoorDash's system apparently considers all 20 of these as though I intentionally chose not to accept them. The result? My acceptance rate went from over 95% down to 76%, putting my Platinum Dasher status at risk. I've contacted DoorDash repeatedly. I've explained the problem. I've given them the dates. I've provided the reference numbers. I've stopped dashing for 10 days while they supposedly investigated. Then I tried again and experienced the exact same technical failure. And what has DoorDash done? Nothing. They refuse to properly investigate the technical problem. They refuse to correct the 20 timed-out assignments. They refuse to restore my acceptance rate. And they refuse to restore the Platinum status that I earned through thousands of deliveries. After nearly 5,000 dashes, I know the difference between an order I intentionally decline and an order that never appears on my phone in the first place. If DoorDash's system fails to deliver an assignment to a Dasher's phone, the Dasher should not be penalized for it. I did everything I was supposed to do. I reported the problem. I stopped working for 10 days to give them time to investigate. I tried again, and the exact same problem happened. I've repeatedly contacted support, and instead of actually fixing the problem, I've been given generic responses and reference numbers. At this point, I have no confidence that anyone at DoorDash is actually investigating my situation. DoorDash needs to take responsibility for its own technology instead of making Dashers pay the price for technical failures that are completely outside of their control. Nearly 5,000 deliveries, a top-of-the-line 5G phone, a history of maintaining a 95%+ acceptance rate, and Platinum status—and apparently none of that matters when their system fails and their support team refuses to fix it. If you're considering becoming a Dasher, understand that when something goes wrong with the DoorDash app, you may be completely on your own. Extremely disappointed in DoorDash and their support. One star is generous.
