Extra surcharges added to final fares
We used Grab in Bali and Kuala Lumpur. It was good in Bali but in Kuala Lumpur we had one driver that added extra tolls and surcharges. Our journey back from Genting cost 30% more than our journey there.
There's also an extra surcharge for using an overseas credit card even though you're paying in their currency.
Overall using a Grab is convenient but the price your see won't be the price you pay as drivers can add whatever they want. If you are on holiday and leaving soon, you won't have time to dispute the costs because once you've left the country, the app says you're out of region so you can't dispute.

Great value airline
We flew from Kuala Lumpur to Bali in June 2025 and it was problem-free. The return flights were good value; check-in was hassle-free and the inflight journey was fine. We had booked a discounted package for one leg of the journey that included a meal; which was small but tasted OK. The package also included a duty free offer where we received four vouchers worth MYR 50 each if you spent MYR 80 on inflight duty free.
Our package included 20KG baggage so our hand luggage was tiny. Getting through to security had minor delays at noth airports because people with non-compliant hand luggage held everyone else up.
On our return flight we noticed that people were quick to change seats and grab other seats, which irritated me a bit. The window seat next to me would have been free but a large woman jumped in at the last minute and then kept banging my elbow for 3 hours.
Overall for the price paid the flights were great. No delays, no problems.
