Scam operation working out of India
I think a scam operation working out of India has taken over what might have been a reputable but short-lived Georgia business. I thought they were tech support from HP, but they accessed my computer remotely for a connection problem that did not need any changes to my computer, despite the tech person’s gobbledygook. They tried to charge me $199 to clean up my machine. I asked for an invoice and then, when they wouldn’t release the screen, I did a cold shutdown and unplugged the computer. I am following all the steps chatGPT suggested to try to make sure they won’t have access to my computer again and had to change all my passwords. What a pain. I’ve reported it to the credit agencies and police. None of the US phone numbers are in service.
