ELEGOO

16 Good Days, Then Weeks of Downtime and Delays

I purchased an Elegoo Centauri Carbon 1 on March 17 and received it March 20. For roughly 16 days it printed very well. I enjoyed using it and I understood why people are attracted to the value on paper. That’s what makes the rest of this experience so disappointing. The printer failed under normal use on April 6. An early failure like that is a quality control problem, and the real issue became how Elegoo handled the warranty. I contacted support on April 7. They acknowledged the issue and chose to resolve it by sending replacement parts rather than offering a replacement unit or refund. After I pushed for faster resolution, they agreed to “expedited shipping” and quoted 5–10 days. That “expedited” promise did not match reality. It took five days just to receive tracking after they said the shipment was expedited. Once tracking existed, the package then sat for about six additional days showing only label created and waiting, with no pickup and no movement. In other words, the entire 5–10 day expedited window was effectively consumed before the carrier even meaningfully handled the package. Later, after the shipment finally began moving, it did experience a short customs delay of about two additional days, but that was on top of the earlier dead time where nothing had even been picked up. To sanity-check whether this kind of delay is unavoidable, I independently ordered one of the failed components myself (the printhead board) and received it in eight days, with tracking provided the next day. That makes it clear fast delivery is possible when it is actually prioritized. My warranty shipment was not. Communication throughout was slow, minimal, and reactive. When I pushed for a real resolution and compensation for weeks of downtime on a nearly-new printer, the only additional offer was a roll of filament. That is not a meaningful remedy for a machine that failed early and remained unusable for an extended period. The overall pattern is that Elegoo will respond, and they will help only as far as they are forced to, but the customer absorbs the downtime and stress. One more point that concerns me: I submitted a review on Elegoo’s own website. I received an email response to it, but the review itself never appeared publicly. Meanwhile, I can see other positive reviews posted during the same timeframe. From my perspective, this strongly suggests Elegoo is filtering out negative reviews to present a better picture of customer satisfaction on their site. I can’t prove their internal process, but the outcome is clear: my negative review was responded to privately and never shown publicly. Bottom line: the Centauri Carbon 1 can be a great printer when it’s functioning, but if you get a bad unit or an early failure, you should expect delays, shifting explanations, and bare-minimum support. I have spent more time waiting on a remedy than I spent actually enjoying the printer. If you’re shopping in this price range and can spend more, I would seriously consider a Qidi Q2 instead. The extra money is not just for features. It’s for better overall build quality, performance headroom, and a company with a much better reputation for customer support. The value equation changes fast once you factor in downtime and how problems are handled. I wanted this to be a great purchase. Instead, it turned into an early failure and weeks of waiting for a basic warranty remedy.
