Corrupt recovery files, bad customer service
The recoverit software did manage to recover my video files, but they were corrupted in some way that made them unreadable/unplayable on computer. I reached out to the customer service chat. The first time, the representative was so slow and unresponsive I ended up texting 10 times to see if anyone was on the other end. When I finally got a response, they asked me to upload screen shots showing the files were unreadable. While I was in the middle of uploading the screen shots, the rep ended the chat because I was supposedly unresponsive for too long. When I finally reached another person, I requested a refund of the software. They told me they had to first run diagnostics in order to determine if the issue could be resolved. But in order to run these diagnostics, I would have to try to repair the files using their repair feature, which is only available on the upgraded versions. I said I didn't have access to it and I wouldn't pay more money for it in order for them to try to fix the issue that the base level version should have done correctly. I had already paid for the software and wasn't willing to pay more money. They told me to download a free trial. I said no. It was ridiculous to ask a customer to download a whole other software to try to fix the issue on their already malfunctioning software. Next, they asked me to send them the corrupted files. I said absolutely not. They were video files and were personal. I told them this was an inappropriate request and that if they had no other way to run diagnostics, then there was no point in me continuing this conversation. I ended up closing the chat. I got an email asking me about my experience, so I let them have it. I then uninstalled the software, deleted the corrupt recovery files, and canceled my subscription. I downloaded Disk Drill, which was way better. Disk Drill recovered my files quickly and with no problems. Later that night, I got an email from Wondershare saying that they refunded my account. I did see a refund issued to my credit card. I would still never deal with them again. Not only did the software suck, but the customer service experience was aggravating and unprofessional.
