Bath Fitters Misleading Claims
In the four pages of small print I had to sign was the wording, "If you fail to make any scheduled payment on time... the 'Same as Cash' Option ends. Interest will then be assessed... from the actual completion date and the 'Same as Cash' Period will not be interest free." (Although that never hit my radar as a potential problem until it was too late.) And although that seems mostly reasonable, what it means in effect is that if someone is late by just a day or two on one payment for any reason, that that the entire Free interest provision in the contract is void. In the spirit of agreement, I don't believe the $1200 they made me pay in interest (for just six months) was justified. I talked to the rep when the problem occurred, and they didn't sound like there was any problem. They simply put the payment through again and it cleared. Also, I ended up paying the entire amount due well within the one-year deadline! (I think I paid it off in just six or seven months.) So, even if Bath Fitters (and their sheisty credit company) is technically within their rights making me pay all that interest, it sure doesn't seem justified to me. BTW: Another misleading (Fraudulent?) claim they make is that the work will be done in "Just one day!" When I asked the contractor why it was taking two full days, he said that it almost always does!
