Misleading product in Peru
Misleading product. I booked a seat in a touristico to take me from Ollantaytambo to Cusco booked via RedBus Peru. The provider Sakura Expedition misrepresented his service as a tourist bus. In practice, he was operating a shared 'colectivo' service. I consider this false advertising. As a woman travelling independently, with limited Spanish (I'm studying), I rely on platforms like RedBus specifically for the safety and predictability they promise. After being picked up late and in a car, not a minibus, the driver preceeded to drive around the Plaza de Armes for 30 minutes, telling me he was waiting for more passengers to appear. After 30 minutes with no further passengers, he asked me to leave his car and transfer into a different vehicle, a 'colectivo' already carrying four passengers. If I'd wanted to use a collectivo, I would haven't used Red Bus as they can be easily found everywhere in Peru and 75% cheaper! The customer services is apalling too. Delivered by bot and didn't answer any of my questions while i was in Peru. Can't find an email address now that I'm back in UK to raise the issues with.
