Scam Company
I never had a good experience with ADT from the time it got installed. I purchased my house in December 2021 and a tech was ready to come same day as closing to install the panel, backyard camera, and doorbell camera. The installation was seamless but everything else was nothing but stress, fradulant billing practices and debt. The equipment was on flexfi and the monitoring came out seperately. So you had to be on autopay otherwise, the entire balance is due automatically. At first, they had the wrong day for autopay, so I had to go back and forth about that with the billing department and what happens is each time they try your card and it reverses, they charge you. So they can try your card 5 times in 48 hours and rack up charges on top of your bill every since time they try. Changing the date worked temporarily then the system stopped accepting my bank card and again the reversal fees. The billing department could not determine why the website would no longer take my bank card. I even spoke to corporate who also could not find out why and actually suggested that I hand over my routing and banking number for them to access my bank account directly. Of course the answer was no. Since they didn't take my primary debit card that I use for everything, I refused to give them my bank account access, I was dropped from Flexfi because you had to have a payment method on file for autopay which made all fees due immediately for the equipment. Talking about the equipmen, it doesn't even work. The doorbell camera stopped working within a year. The backdoor camera stopped working shortly after that. The only remaining working piece of equipment was the panel. I spoke to IT and I was going to be charged for a new camera set because I was told my camera set was outdated but it was the ones given to me, so they knowingly put camera's on my house that was outdated then when it stopped working, tried to do more fradulant billing to get me to sign up for more cameras and more installation fees. I declined and bought more reliable camera's from a competitor. Despite making my payments to ADT monthly, since I wasn't on the autopay Flexfi since they would not take my debit card, I was written off and my monitoring services canceled. Thats fine. My contract legally ends in 6 months and all the remaining balance will be paid in full. Once that occurs my relationship with ADT will officially be over and I never, ever will use this company again. Potential customer beware, they have long 5 year contracts, poor equipment that will break and try to get you to buy more, AND their billing practices is off leading to higher bills for the consumer. They are a scam, their company is making money by advertising one thing, locking you into a contract then charging all this money that you have to pay to be free of them.
