Save your money (maybe)
(See update at the end) I was excited to get this litter robot. I have five cats. I purchased two of the litter robot five with camera. The advisements that I had seen including YouTube reviews and on instagram made it seem easy use and easy clean. It is none of those things. I have tried three different litters that are sold for litter robots. They do not work. The littler robot smells, it doesn’t clump properly and it is a mess to clean. I have taken multiple pictures but I don’t think they will let me load to this review. The litter gets caught when dumping and gets behind the bonnet of the little robot. It’s smears feces and urine all over the circular device. I clean this unit completely once a week and have to spot clean it daily. Even doing that it is time consuming and a mess. The “clumping” littler doesn’t clump but either smears on the bottom and doesn’t dump or it clumps and stays on the top of the robot and looks like we have urine stalactites hanging from the ceiling. I will say that when I contacted whiskers customer service originally because things were left off my order they responded promptly and gave me extra litter liners. I really wish this worked. I spent a lot of money buying two of these units and feel like I do more trying to maintain them than scooping a littler box every day. In short, whiskers has great customer service but their product does not work for my cats. They are very costly and you need to spend 30+ minutes deep cleaning a week. Updated Aug. 4th: I contacted Litter Robot customer service. Garrett K was so helpful. He understood exactly what was happening. He noted that we should change the time for it to scoop to 7 minutes but also said it looked like the coating on the circular globe sphere was defective and we were missing some of the seal strips. They have ordered us a replacement free of charge and even included a re-chargeable laser pointer for our fur-babies. I am hoping their replacements work. But again, their customer service is fabulous and have gone above and beyond! Because of this I am updating my review from a one star to three. I will update further if these suggestions work.
