There is very little transparency when it comes to sales/royalties. We have a bestselling book that has sold thousands of copies elsewhere (literally 60,000+ copies) and not 1 single reported sale on BookBaby. I know they report a couple of months after the sales are made (which is very inconvenient) but still, even though it was published a long time ago, no sales have been reported. This is strange because when I listed it on BookBaby, the version from BookBaby overtook our listing on Amazon.ca for a few days and I even saw a huge drop in sales from Amazon.ca during those days. The Best Sellers Rank, however, stayed on the same average level, meaning it was still selling; in other words, the sales must have been attributed to the BookBaby listing. The book is also available on many more websites where I can see ''Bookbaby" listed as the publisher; however, still no sales reported. Another thing I find strange is that you have to make a thousand-dollar purchase to buy copies of your own book just to get the book to distributors. This is just my experience with BookBaby and I'm not accusing them of anything. However, if you're looking for transparency, I would highly recommend choosing a different distributor.
