Surprised Us!
Hi everyone, we are a couple from New Zealand, 54 & 61. We booked a mini tour in Beijing -Xian on our way home from Europe. We had 4 nights of accomidation, 2 in Beijing and 2 in Xian. The hotels were beautiful. Meals both lunch and breakfast were perfect. Our guides were the best we havd had in the world! They annwered all of our questions and told us great information. They also allowed us to modify our tour on the go as we were tired and the heat was a bit much. We were there August 4-9. If you are taking the bullet train to Xian try to get it during daylight as it was great to look at the country side. I would upgrade to business class for the lounge and seats like in business class on the plane, this is above first class seats on the train. We are not great at standing in cue's but we copped, my advise would be to checkout when school holidays are in China, try not to be there then, or go early in the mornings. Ask Odyssey if they can advise you. Also for the ladies, if you are getting dressed up in Hanfu? pay extra (120 ish yaun) and get the hair and makeup! I was most surprised at how beautiful, clean and well orginised Beijing and Xian are, the rest of the world could learn from China. Thank you From Deidre Kiernan NZ
