The team organising the itinerary and supervising the guides behind the scenes were responsive and very helpful. Our contact, Wade, was incredible and I would recommend him to anyone. He responded very quickly at all hours and was even happy to help make last-minute changes when we heard about new things we wanted to try. Five stars! Our guides in Kunming (Winnie) and Dali (Bell) were very good. Winnie was exceptionally attentive and welcoming. Bell was informative and funny. Overall I had a very positive experience and would use AOT again.

What a trip! Nicole from Asia Odyssey was our tour consultant and she was just brilliant! Nicole was very knowledgeable and helpful in the planning stage of our custom tour through China. No matter how many silly questions and changes to our itinerary we came up with, Nicole responded incredibly quickly and patiently. The trip - 3 weeks travelling through China with a group of six - went seamlessly and was just an incredible experience. From guides, cars, train tickets, plane tickets and all the attraction tickets - everything was organised perfectly and just worked. Guides were all fabulous, interesting people who spoke very good English and had a wealth of knowledge; transport was without fail high quality, clean with friendly safe drivers. Honestly, the trip couldn’t have gone better. I highly commend Nicole and the team at Asia Odyssey - they exceeded our expectations in every way and we had the trip of a life time.
We went to Guilin and I used June again as my agent from Asia Odyssey. Everything was arranged smoothly, there were no issues at all. The choice of hotel was great and we visited all the places we wanted to go to. The tour guide we had was Joy and she was amazing. Very knowledgeable and so pleasant. She even took photos and made a video for us after! Had a great time.
We have just returned from our 13-day tour of China, from Beijing to Shanghai, and unfortunately, I would not recommend Asia Odyssey Travel to my friends. As this was our first organised tour, we chose the agency to ensure everything was taken care of and we could enjoy a stress-free holiday. While the itinerary was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing. Itinerary: Excellent and the main reason we chose this agency. Accommodation: The hotels in Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin and Yangshuo were good. However, in Zhangjiajie and Shanghai, our rooms faced internal corridors and staff facilities, resulting in very little daylight and constant noise. The agency compensated us with better rooms at two subsequent stops, but the repeated lack of attention to room allocation left us feeling neglected. Transfers: Mostly smooth, but one flight was rescheduled because the agency could not secure our original choice. We consequently had to leave our hotel at 4:30 a.m. instead of taking the planned evening flight. Tour guides: Our experience was mixed. Our first guide in Beijing was inexperienced, but his replacement, Kevin, was excellent. In Xi’an, our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, but we later discovered that two planned activities had been skipped. Although the agency refunded us, we were disappointed to have missed experiences we might never get to enjoy again. In Zhangjiajie, Trevo was outstanding—professional, responsive and a real highlight of our trip. In Guilin and Yangshuo, our guide lacked the local experience needed to advise us on the best viewing spot for the Yellow Dragon Parade, and was absent during a key explanation on the Li River cruise. Our Shanghai guide, Rachel, was also excellent. We have chosen not to name the guides whose service disappointed us, as we believe it is the agency’s responsibility to ensure consistent quality. Overall verdict: The itinerary was excellent, and we met some wonderful guides. However, repeated issues with accommodation, a disruptive flight change and missed activities meant that we spent too much time dealing with problems instead of enjoying our holiday. We chose Asia Odyssey Travel to make our trip smooth and stress-free. Sadly, the experience fell short of those expectations. With better attention to detail, planning and quality control, this could have been a fantastic holiday. Unfortunately, we returned feeling disappointed rather than fully satisfied with what should have been a memorable trip.
Amy and her team in AOT had provided a one stop service with outstanding customer service. We booked a 5 day experience in Jiayuguan and DunHuang in China. The booking process was easy, and they had us transported to the train station with ease. We signed up for a second segment programme in Xi’An and had a wonderful interaction with the tour guide. First time booking with AsiaOdyssey and it couldn't have gone better. Allan was extremely helpful in selection of a Yangtse River cruise (Oct 2026) with Century, as well as follow up questions I had on directions, piers, etc. Very responsive. Thought the credit card fee was a bit high, but that seemingly third party related. Will very happily book with them again next time around.

Just completed a 10-day visit to three of the Stans. All arrangements within and between the Stans done through Asia Odyssey Travel with Donnie Li as our key contact. Conclusion: the trip went flawlessly. All connections, hotels, tour guides and drivers were exactly as we hoped and we saw as much of these three countries as we could within the limited time. Travelling in parts of China. We went on an exhaustive trip to Gansu, Xinjiang and Kazakhstan, part of which in northern Xinjiang was organised by Asia Odyssey Travel. Runny's overall planning and associated activities were excellent. She always replied to our preliminary questions quickly and used her company to buy train tickets. On the trip, our guide Amanda was quick and efficient. There were a lot of shuttle buses etc to catch which would have been confusing without her expertise. Maybe back in the van, she could have explained more about the cultures behind what we saw. The van used was comfortable and the driver excellent. He had to seek out parking spots and drove safely. One request for the future: supply a map for each traveller showing, in English, the route and briefly the highlights to see. John and Jian
