Today was our first day to be in my ancestral country for the first time, and my mind is already blown! A HUGE shout out to Hansong Li and Dolphin Union for arranging every detail from the best private tour guide (with perfect English) to a perfect hotel in a quiet part of downtown Beijing and only 10 min walk from Wanfujing, a hustling and hip hub of restaurants and shops. (How is that even possible???) We toured Tiananamen Square, Forbidden City, Beihai Park and Old Town all at our pace. As I look at the huge tour groups being herded like cattle and instructions called out with bullhorns, I'm SOOOO glad we booked a private tour with Dolphin Union. Plus, our guide, Jonathan, was a wealth of information yet knew all the customs and etiquette of the US. What an amazing place. We can't wait for tomorrow!
