Green Chef did respond favorably
On April 30, I wanted to try your service. I was texted and emailed a discount of 50% on the first box and 20% on the next two months. I selected my box (and was repeatedly reminded I could make changed to this order until midnight, April 30 for a May 5 delivery). Upon checking the receipt, I saw the discount was not applied. I tried numerous times to get it to activate through the email and text links-but to no avail. I tried chatting with a live agent, who kept saying, I had to do it online, before discontinuing the chat. Frustrated, I just went online and canceled the subscription on April 30…assuming I was canceling before starting. Now I find you charged my card the full $126 and in calling your “customer service” find that there is some other hidden process for canceling, that the agent never disclosed-nor is clear on your site. The best I was offered was a credit on Green Chef? Finally I demanded, and it needs to be processed, a credit of 50% back to my credit card as that is the original amount I was “lured” into paying. What you are doing is classic “bait and switch” without fully and clearly disclosing your policies and practices. I will be reporting your company to the BBB, Yelp and Reddit reviews as well as the NC Attorney General office. Additionally, I will make sure local news investigative reporters are aware so they can produce a story so that other consumers can be aware of deceptive practices such as yours. UPDATE: The team at Hello Fresh/Green Chef reached out to apologize and offered a full refund. While that is appreciated, for future consumers, please understand that it seems that once you select the first box, while you can make changes to that box within a certain window, that does not apply should you choose to cancel before start. I still am uncertain why that isn’t clearer on the site or why the promised discounts didn’t get applied, but to be fair, the company did what they could at this point.
