The process was a little convoluted but the setup instructions on the fonus email are correct and I got the esim setup in my pixel 7 2nd try. They send the QR code via email and in order to scan it in the app I had to forward it to my wife's phone to scan, there must be an easier way to do that...otherwise the support crew did get back to me quickly, now I'll have to checkout how it works after a long flight to Europe....
