Great concept, but doesn't deliver.
TL;DR: The company fails to deliver many of the promised features, making the robot practically useless. I originally backed the Ebo X product on Kickstarter, hoping for an sleek, advanced home robot with tons of crazy features. The delivery was on-time, the packaging was beautiful, and the robot looked like a time-traveling orb from a sci-fi movie. My first impressions were great, but little did I know this was a massive waste of money. 1. The camera: The concept of a camera on wheels that you can access anywhere anytime is pretty cool. Only if it works well. I have blazing fast wifi, but the live feed is horrendously laggy, cutting out at times (I have to close and reopen the app). And if you are hesitant about sending a live video of your house to China, this robot should already be off the list for you. 2. Features: Let me get straight to the point: the robot has not got a software update for a little less than a year. This may not seem that bad, but there are so many unresolved issues and unreleased features that it's just a laughingstock by now. For example, the company promised ChatGPT integration. A month after I received the bot, I contacted support asking for the estimated date of release, and they told me 'by the end of December'. I contacted them again at the end of December. They kept pushing the release date (or just telling me lies) until I just gave up. 3. Just a bad product: I get this is (or was) a Kickstarter, but it has been out for over a year now, and some of the features are just bad. The app is incredibly slow, not to mention the awkward English (I get they are a Chinese company, but can you at least just hire an English speaker?), the robot can't even map my house fully, cutting off about half of the feature set. And the map editing is just a pain in the a*s. The robot can't even return to the charging station without running out of battery. I've experienced multiple glitches with the product. The facial recognition feature is crap. There are so many minor problems that could be fixed within just a few updates. It's not really my family's 'protector, companion, or playmate', as the website claims, but more my family's overpriced paperweight. And for $1,100? Overall, a good idea, but executed badly. You decide whether to buy from Enabot or not.
