Lazada

From a seller's perspective, BAD!

I found this seller agreement to be very one-sided and heavily in Lazada's favour. While it's understandable that a marketplace needs rules to protect itself, this agreement gives Lazada a significant amount of control while leaving sellers to shoulder most of the risk. Buyers can cancel even after you ship the item, causing you to hustle within 24 hours, else your account gets a strike. My biggest concern is that Lazada can change the terms, policies, and even certain fees at any time, and simply continuing to use the platform means you've accepted those changes. As a seller, that creates a lot of uncertainty because the rules you're operating under can change without any real negotiation. The agreement also gives Lazada broad discretion to suspend services, restrict your account, or remove your participation in certain programs if it believes you've breached its policies. Many important decisions are left entirely to Lazada's discretion, with very few protections for sellers. Another downside is that if you pay for advertising or promotional services, Lazada makes it clear that there are no guarantees of increased sales, traffic, or better rankings. Sellers take on all of the financial risk, even if the advertising doesn't perform as expected. On top of that, sellers are responsible for virtually everything related to their products and listings—from legal compliance and intellectual property rights to the accuracy of product information. Meanwhile, Lazada limits its own liability if technical issues, platform outages, or other problems affect your business. Overall, the agreement feels designed to protect Lazada far more than the people selling on the platform. While many large marketplaces have similar terms, I believe this agreement could do a much better job of balancing the rights and responsibilities of both parties. As it stands, sellers carry most of the risk while Lazada retains most of the control.
