Superprof UK

Superprof’s misleading business model!

Superprof’s business model feels intentionally misleading. I tried the service once, contacted a tutor, the tutor declined the request, and I never meaningfully used the platform afterwards. Months later I discovered repeated £39 charges quietly continuing in the background. The worst part is that this is clearly not an isolated incident. There are countless reviews from people describing the exact same experience: - confusing “Student Pass” subscriptions, - charges starting immediately after entering payment details, - difficulty cancelling, - and refund requests being refused even when no tutoring actually happened. The platform presents itself like you are paying to contact a tutor, but in reality you are enrolling into a recurring subscription system that many users do not fully understand at the point of signup. A tutoring platform should make pricing transparent and explicit, not rely on people discovering recurring charges later in their bank statements. If you use Superprof: - check your PayPal/bank statements carefully, - verify cancellation actually worked, - and read the reviews before entering payment details. My experience was awful and I would absolutely not recommend the service. Edit: Thank you for your response. I reject the claim that I knowingly agreed to an ongoing £39 subscription in the way you describe. The platform design and wording around the Student Pass are widely recognised as misleading. There are thousands of one-star reviews on Trustpilot from users describing the same experience: believing they were paying to contact or book a tutor, then discovering recurring charges they did not clearly understand or intend to authorise. In my case, I attempted to contact a tutor, the tutor was not able to help me, and I never meaningfully used the service afterward. Despite that, I was charged. I also have evidence that Superprof billing emails frequently end up in spam folders due to the wording and formatting used, meaning many users do not notice the recurring subscription until after charges have already been taken. At this point I am requesting a full refund of all charges taken from my account. If this is not resolved promptly, I will proceed with a chargeback through my bank and, if necessary, pursue the matter formally through the small claims process on the basis of misleading subscription practices and disputed consent. I would prefer to resolve this directly and amicably, but I am not willing to accept further charges for a service I neither properly understood nor meaningfully used.
