For grocery shopping, I think it’s still a great service
In general, I would say that the quality of the shopping is good enough. It’s not exactly what I would do, but it’s good enough. What bothers me is that they charge an extra 10% overall on groceries from what it would cost me if I shopped in the store myself, and then there’s always a service fee. If the shopper gets that money, then I’m fine with it, but if Instacart gets it, I’m not fine with it. I would be more inclined to renew my membership if I could choose my shopper based on the ones who do the best job. In spite of the up charge and the not always perfect shopping experience, I have to give them credit for refunding anything that came ruined, or deducting something that was thrown into my bag by mistake that I didn’t order, or the fact that even if they charge me an extra 10%, I’m not paying for the gas to drive there. When there’s a snowstorm, or it’s icy out, I’m grateful to have Instacart.
