ELEGOO

Dangerous overheating fault, then weeks of testing, then a refusal to warranty the damage it caused

My Saturn 4 Ultra 16K's UV screen started staying on continuously, driving the internal temperature to roughly 90–100°C — that's an uncontrolled heat event with no automatic cutoff, in a printer that sits right next to flammable UV-curable resin. Elegoo has since acknowledged this was a hardware/controller fault. What followed was over a month of Elegoo-directed troubleshooting: firmware reinstalls, repeated test prints, videos, and photos, at their request, trying to rule out their own theories. That process burned through resin and consumables and got harder to justify once the LCD itself started failing — large dead zones, dead pixels, uneven exposure, all while I kept testing because they kept asking me to. Elegoo confirmed the LCD damage but wouldn't warranty it — first calling it "wear and tear," then, when that didn't hold up, claiming the damage pattern was "unrelated" to the very heat event they'd already acknowledged. Their offer after 5+ weeks and 28 emails was a 20% discount code, not a warranty fix. Twice during this process they claimed to have sent replies I never received, adding more delay on top of the weeks I'd already spent testing. Now pursuing a card chargeback and a complaint to Consumer Affairs Victoria.
