Misleading initial offer and major reduction after inspection
I submitted my 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid to Driveway and initially received an offer of $27,900. After the virtual inspection, Driveway reduced the offer to $20,000. I understand that offers can change after inspection, and I later realized the mileage had been entered incorrectly at first. However, the revised offer still felt extremely low for a 2021 CR-V Hybrid, especially because the explanation referenced mileage, “minor scratches and dings,” and the vehicle also appeared to be categorized simply as a CR-V rather than a CR-V Hybrid. A nearly $8,000 reduction after pulling someone through the process feels excessive and misleading. The starting offer made the process seem worthwhile, but the final number was so far below the original offer that it felt like a classic bait-and-switch experience. I would not recommend relying on Driveway’s initial offer unless you are prepared for a very large reduction after their review. In my case, another buyer’s offer was significantly better, so I moved on.
