Tutor changed the terms, then I got caught in a £39 subscription trap.
I signed up specifically for in-person acting lessons, found a tutor, and was immediately charged the £39 "Student Pass" connection fee. But the tutor then moved the goalposts and told me she was actually only willing to do online classes. Since that wasn't what was advertised, the lessons never went ahead. I fully intended to sort it out and get my money back, but life got in the way and it slipped my mind to contact Superprof straight away. I finally remembered to message them on the 23rd of June. Unfortunately, their monthly auto-renewal had just triggered on the 22nd of June, so I had been charged another £39, total £78, for absolutely nothing. To their credit, support acknowledged the initial problem with the tutor and agreed to refund my first month. But when I asked them to refund the second month because I was literally one day late cancelling an account I had never used, "Cory" point blank refused. He gave me a generic corporate script comparing their platform to Netflix. The difference is, when I pay for Netflix, I actually get what I signed up for! Penalising a user £39 for being 24 hours late to cancel a completely dead account is incredibly poor customer service. This is particularly frustrating given the entire situation only happened because their tutor couldn't deliver the classes she advertised in the first place. It feels like they rely on catching people out with these auto-renewals when their initial service fails. I am more than happy to update or amend this review once someone at Superprof uses some common sense and refunds the second £39. Until then, be very careful before handing over your card details.
