Seriously reconsider before buying
I’m sharing my experience with the Monport Mega 70W laser engraver so others can make an informed decision—especially small business owners. While the Monport support team was responsive and professional, the reality is that the product itself did not work out of the box and remains completely unusable. Over several hours, I worked directly with their technical team attempting to resolve the issue. This included reinstalling drivers (CH340), adjusting Mac security permissions, testing multiple USB connections, remote troubleshooting via AnyDesk, and reconfiguring LightBurn. Despite all of this, the machine never successfully connected or operated. Before purchasing, I explicitly confirmed Mac compatibility with their pre-sales team—so this outcome is both frustrating and unexpected. The only remaining suggestion involved a complex motherboard-level workaround, which is not reasonable for a customer to perform on a brand-new unit. This purchase was intended for my wife’s small business, and the inability to use the machine has already resulted in lost time and missed income opportunities. To be clear: • The machine has never functioned • This is not user error or a change of mind • The product was effectively dead on arrival I have requested a return and asked Monport to waive restocking and shipping fees given the circumstances. Charging those fees in a situation like this would be difficult to justify. My takeaway: while support tries to help, product reliability and Mac compatibility are serious concerns. I would strongly caution Mac users and small business owners to do very thorough due diligence before purchasing. I hope Monport resolves this fairly.
