Absolutely terrible experience with GrabFood Thailand
Absolutely terrible experience with GrabFood Thailand. I placed a GrabFood order worth 935 THB and paid cash. The driver first delivered the wrong order, then immediately left before I had a proper chance to verify the food. After contacting support and waiting much longer, the correct order finally arrived cold and in poor condition. What followed was honestly even worse than the delivery issue itself. I spent an entire week fighting with Grab support while repeatedly explaining that I never properly received the meal I paid for. During a phone conversation, a Grab support representative clearly told me that I would receive full compensation/refund for the issue. I even have a recording of this conversation. Despite this, the case was repeatedly dragged out with almost no real help. At one point, after all this frustration, Grab actually offered only 70 THB compensation for a nearly 940 THB failed order. That alone was honestly insulting. Only after multiple escalations did they finally provide “full compensation” but even that was handled in an absurd way. Instead of giving one proper 940 THB voucher matching the original order value, Grab split it into 6 separate 150 THB vouchers plus one 40 THB voucher. On top of that, only one voucher can be used per order, meaning multiple separate orders and multiple separate service fees are required just to recover the value of an order that was ruined because of their own delivery failure. I repeatedly explained that I am a tourist and leaving Thailand very soon, so delaying the case for a week and then giving fragmented vouchers is almost useless. Nobody seriously tried to provide a practical solution. The most shocking part of this experience was realizing how little protection the customer actually has on this platform. If a driver mishandles your order, you may still lose your money, spend days arguing with support, and end up with complicated vouchers instead of a real resolution. After this experience, I will never use Grab again. I also discovered that many restaurants in Thailand allow direct phone orders and local delivery services, which honestly feels much safer and more reliable than depending on a platform that handles customer issues this way. Anyone ordering through Grab should understand the risk: if something goes wrong with your order, getting fair treatment or practical compensation may become an exhausting battle.
