Left Stranded With 3 Families After a 5-Hour Drive
We had an extremely stressful and disappointing experience with this property management. We booked a vacation rental in Oroville for 3 families with young children. We planned this trip for a long time and drove about 5 hours expecting to start our vacation. Instead, when we arrived at the property, we found out that the reservation had been cancelled. We did not receive proper notification before arriving. In my opinion, this was a serious failure of communication and property management. If a reservation is cancelled, guests should be clearly notified before they travel — not after they arrive at the front door. Because this happened at the last minute during a long weekend, there were almost no realistic alternatives available. We spent hours calling the property manager, the owner, and Airbnb support while trying to find emergency accommodation for 11 people. In the end, we had to rent motel rooms just so everyone had a place to sleep. This completely ruined our vacation. Instead of relaxing with our families, we spent the day dealing with stress, uncertainty, phone calls, and emergency arrangements. Airbnb eventually helped reimburse most of our emergency motel cost, which we appreciate. However, the core issue remains: this situation should never have happened in the first place. The lack of proper notice and accountability from the property management side left multiple families stranded after a long drive. Based on this experience, I would be very cautious about booking a property managed this way. Reliable communication and basic accountability are essential, especially when families with children are traveling.
