Poor Service, Additional Costs
My experience was extremely disappointing. At the time of purchase, I paid both for the artwork and the customs charges, based on Saatchi Art's representations that no further customs costs would be payable. However, when the shipment arrived, it was held by customs due to an incorrect customs declaration submitted by the shipper. The declared value did not match the purchase information, resulting in customs penalties, additional charges, and significant delays. I contacted Saatchi Art to resolve. Not only was it extremely difficult to get hold of anyone, but when I did, I was told that I would have to pay the additional charges myself, that is further customs and penalties for a misdeclaration made either on their end or their shipping partners. There was no meaningful assistance, accountability, or attempt to rectify the situation. The quality of the photographic prints was shockingly poor, they looked more like low-quality photocopies than professionally produced photographic prints.
