SCAMMERS DO NOT USE, BAD FAITH COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. This is a bad faith company, they are scammers!! I signed up and requested a lesson with a tutor who was unable to teach me until a few months time. (If tutors are unavailable for months at the time of requesting, they should be paused from advertising their service). After the tutor declined my lesson, Superprof took it upon themselves to match me with other tutors that I had NOT requested, therefore triggering their subscription fee. I did not think to check my bank for a couple of months, as I had not personally requested another tutor, nor had I engaged in any messaging or arranged a lesson with them. The subscription was activated and charged purely on the basis of tutors expressing availability, not on me taking any deliberate action to commence a paid service. This is a textbook mis-sale: I was not given a clear, unambiguous opportunity to consent to the charge before it was applied. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the FCA’s rules on subscription services and continuous payment authorities, I am entitled to a refund where recurring charges are applied without sufficiently informed consent! Aside from that, it is not even clear that this is a subscription service when first inputting your card details. It states that a first lesson with a tutor is free and then you will be charged per lesson after that. Total scam and it seems from the other reviews I've read, that they've gotten away with it time and time again.
