Adobe

Triumph of Disappointment

I have used many programs in my life. Some good, some bad, some that made me question my life choices. Adobe Acrobat belongs in a special fourth category: software that seems to be personally aware of when I need it most, specifically so it can break. Need to sign a PDF before a meeting? Acrobat says no. Need to merge two documents? Acrobat would prefer to "update." Want to simply open a file? Bold of you to assume you can. The spinning wheel of contemplation and "Adobe has stopped working" pop-up has become my screensaver. I have aged visibly waiting for it to load. I'm fairly convinced the entire application is held together by popsicle sticks and the dried optimism of a thousand frustrated users. You can practically hear it creaking. One stiff breeze near my computer and the whole thing collapses into a pile of craft supplies and error codes. And I just know, deep in my heart, that the person who created this program eats warm mayonnaise on ham sandwiches. No refrigeration. Room temperature, at best. Two stars would be generous. One star is an act of mercy. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
