Disappointing AI Performance – Product does not work as advertised
I purchased the Litter-Robot 5 Pro—Whisker’s most expensive flagship model—specifically for the advertised AI camera feature designed to identify my cats. I even paid for an additional one-year Whisker+ Membership subscription, as Whisker claimed it would enhance the experience and functionality. Six months later, this core feature still does NOT work as advertised. Despite my cats having completely different coat colors, and even though I have identified each cat with multiple profile images and been diligent in correcting misidentifications in the AI history, the camera still misidentifies them at least 50% of the time. I have corrected the app every single time it gets it wrong, hoping the AI would learn, but after half a year, there has been zero improvement. When I reached out to Whisker support, their solution was not to fix the faulty software, but to pressure me into purchasing additional "Pet Tags." It is completely unacceptable to ask a customer to pay for yet another accessory—on top of the premium unit price and the ongoing subscription fee—just to make a core feature function as promised. Furthermore, these tags force my cats to carry extra weight on their collars 24/7, simply to compensate for the company's inability to deliver the AI performance they marketed. If their proprietary technology is this unreliable, these tags should be provided to customers for free until they actually resolve the camera’s identification issues. I cannot recommend this flagship model if you are buying it for the automated cat-identifying features. You will likely end up buying extra accessories just to achieve the basic functionality they advertised.
