iPostal1 cancellation policy violates the law
Under Payments Canada Rule H1, I may revoke authorization for pre-authorized debits at any time. Rule H1 expressly requires every PAD agreement to state that authorization may be revoked at any time. Cancelling the PAD agreement does not cancel the underlying service contract or eliminate any amount legitimately owed. It merely withdraws authorization to use that payment method. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada confirms this distinction. I am not asking you to cancel my current contract or refund the current term. I am withdrawing authorization for any renewal payment after the present contract expires. I spent a great deal of time on the phone with an agent who refused to follow Canadian law. My only option at this point is to file a complaint with Canadian regulators.
