ICON meals disaster of a order
I placed an order with Icon Meals on July 7 totaling over $500. After a long delay with no updates, I finally contacted customer service to find out what was happening. I was told the order was backlogged. Despite knowing there had been a significant delay, my order was shipped without any advance notification while I was out of town. I had to work with UPS to delay the delivery so the package wouldn’t be left outside. When the package finally arrived, the meals were no longer frozen. They were packed with dry ice, but by the time I opened the box the dry ice had dissipated and the meals had thawed significantly. Because I had invested over $500 in the order, I refroze everything rather than throw it away, but I am now concerned about the safety and quality of the food. I understand delays can happen, but the lack of communication throughout the process was disappointing. A simple email explaining the backlog and providing a shipping update would have gone a long way. Shipping perishable food without ensuring the customer is aware of the delivery date created an unnecessary problem. I have ordered meal prep services because I rely on them for nutrition and convenience. Unfortunately, this experience has made me question whether I can depend on Icon Meals in the future.
